Ararat region frontier villages have been Led-ified

Frontier communities of Paruyr Sevak, Tigranashen and Yeraskh in the Ararat region were provided LED lamps within the framework of the "Bright Border” project

On August 18, the Armenian Energy Agency provided approximately 1,500 LED lamps within the framework of the "Bright Border” project to 300 families living in the frontier communities of Paruyr Sevak, Tigranashen and Yeraskh in the Ararat region.  Each family received 5 high-quality, laboratory tested LED lamps with a 3 year service warranty from delivery.

Representatives from the Armenia Ministry of Energy Infrastructure and Natural Resources, Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development, "Energy Research Institute", "Young Engineers Association" NGO, "Optimum Energy" LLC, "Electrique Group" LLC as well as other organizations, volunteers and Armenian students from abroad to part in this process.

On average, energy savings for these communities will amount to 7-8 million AMD per year.

The Armenian Energy Agency will continue to provide energy savings tools to families and its community members which will significantly reduce the cost of utility bills.

 

Project results:

More than 5,000 families from 27 border villages have already received 25,000 high quality, laboratory tested LED lamps with a three year service warranty. On average, annual energy savings within these 27 communities total over 3,750 million kWh (150 million drams).

Any individual or organization may participate in the charity program. The Armenian Energy Agency is open to discuss proposals and ideas with stakeholders to develop the program.

The project became possible thanks to generous donations from a number of individuals and organizations. The "Electric Networks of Armenia" CJCS is among largest donors and one of the chief sponsors of the project:

- 10,845 LED lamps,

- 2169 LEDified families,

- 10,300,000 AMD donated,

- about 47,906,657 AMD annual utility cost savings forecast (1.065.065 kWh saved electricity.).
